The amazing sights of Nepal: Dakshinkali Temple

Nepalese are very religious. It is believed that most of the population in Nepal professes Hinduism, although in fact the inhabitants of this country have created some kind of mixture of Buddhist beliefs, Hinduism and tantric rites. A small part of the population professes Islam, shamanism and Christianity.
The main attractions of Nepal are the highest mountains (Himalayas), national parks and temples, of which there are many.
Dakshinkali Temple
This article will discuss the temple with the interesting and difficult to pronounce name Dakshinkali.
By virtue of their religiosity, the Nepalese believe that their whole space is filled with spirits, sometimes unfriendly. And so that they, that is, the spirits, do not do anything wrong, they should be periodically humored, for example, to offer sacrifice. In Hinduism, there are 330 million gods, which is why without a periodic repetition of the rite of offering sacrifice to a simple Nepalese simply can not do.
It is worth noting that some of the deities of the Nepalese surrendered whole churches, sometimes located in remote places. Of course, it is easy to talk about the deep faith of the inhabitants of this country like this, sitting at a computer. To truly understand the inhabitants of Nepal, learn a little more about the temple of Dakshinkali.
Dakshinkali Temple is located in the southern part of Kathmandu Valley. This religious building was created in honor of the goddess Kali, the wife of the god Shiva. In this regard, there is a legend:
Beautiful Kali was the wife of the god Shiva. Daksha, Kali’s father, decided to hold a large sacrifice ceremony. Upon learning that Kali came to the house without an invitation from her father, the angry Daksha scolded and drove Kali away, after which she threw herself into despair into the fire.
Inconsolable Shiva wore the body of his beloved spouse in his arms and completely abandoned the affairs of the universe. Alarmed by what was happening, Vishnu turned Kali’s body into stones and threw them on the ground. One of these stones fell here, in the place where the temple Dakshinkali was built.
Every year, hundreds of Nepalese come to the temple to sacrifice a pet – a goat, a rooster, a ram, a duck. Buddhists who come to the temple sacrifice fruits and vegetables. The altar of the temple is made to be watered with the blood of the sacrifice, and the meat is fried and eaten right there on the lawn, not far from the temple, where visitors arrange something like a picnic. A fallen (according to legend) stone from heaven is located near the temple. A gazebo was built next to it.
As a rule, sacrifices are made on Tuesdays and Fridays. Most of the sacrifices take place in October, during the Dasayn Festival, when the sculpture of Kali literally bathes in blood. Dakshinkali Temple is just 20 km from Kathmandu, you can get here by bus, next to the temple on Tuesdays and Fridays, or by bike.
Representatives of various religions and tourists are allowed into the Dakshinkali temple. The stone floor of this temple is literally flooded with blood, which goes to the flies. Here, not far from the temple, it is customary to hold weddings, during which the bride and groom can watch the ceremonies. Here they are – Nepalese.
